Vienna Football Stadium - Travel Information (Ernst Happel Stadium)

The Ernst Happel Stadium was formally know as the Prater Stadium before 1992. It was bult some 88 years ago and will host the Euro 2008 final next year.

It's the largest football stadium in Austria and generally hosts European matches for Vienna's teams as their own stadia aren't big enough.

Getting There:

By Aeroplane To Vienna Airport:

Airport Site.

Busses to Vienna Schwedenplatz (Town Centre) take just 20 minutes and cost around 6 Euros.

You can take the bus to Vienna Südbahnhof (25mins),Vienna Westbahnhof (35mins) but make sure you know which is closest to accommodation. The Station Wien-Mitte is closest to the Stadium.

You can take the S-Bahn to Station Wien-Mitte which takes 24 minutes and takes you to the centre of Vienna and is the closest to the stadium. The price is about 3 Euros and you can buy a ticket at the platform.

There are also many car-hire companies at the airport.

The Taxi rank is just to the north of the airport.

By Train To Vienna Train Station:
The stadium is just a "hop, skip and a jump" from the central station (Station Wien-Mitte). Just head towards the river and away from the town centre - head east!
