Danish Bacon Saved

UEFA has reduced the punishment that the Danish FA were hanned down following a EURO 2008 game against Sweden where a drunk fan ran on to the pitch and attacked the referee.

Previously the Danes were forced to find anywhere other than the home stadium for their next four home matches. Now it's just 2 games that have to be played more than 87 miles (160km) away and it looks like Aarhus will be the chosen venue.

Why does this normally happen? Bans get reduced on appeal, why bother? Just skip to the appeal and have done with it!
