Nigel Worthington Northern Ireland Boss
So Nigel Worthington is the new Northern Ireland boss charged with taking the nation to the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland after Laurie Sanchez's departure last month.Despite having mixed success with Norwich he's only been given a six month contract which would take him up to the end of the qualifying tournament. I'm sure if he makes it then they'll extend the contract but it gives the IFA the right to find someone else if he manages blow the slender lead they have at the top of the Group F table.
At least he's able to focus soley on getting Northern Ireland to their first tournament for 22 years. He understands that it's not the best time to become manager of a national team:
"It's never easy to step in midstream but qualifying from this group will be my No.1 priority in the next six months and it's a challenge I shall relish.
"In Northern Ireland, when we as people decide we want something, we more than often get it.
"We have to set our hearts on that in the next six games. If we work together and drive forward, anything can be achieved.
"I'm fully aware of the enormity of the task and the expectations of the supporters."
So good luck to the man!
But what do you think? Is he the right man for the job? Let us know in the Northern Ireland Euro 2008 Forum.
