Getting Started
The Ukrainian Ministry of Transport and Communications have put the construction of new roads as it's primary task - with the cross-border motorway receiving $1.76bn of attention.
At the moment to go from one end of Poland to the other side of Ukraine, a distance of 2000km, would require them to spend 22 hours on single lane roads. Now that's not what I call fun! In total they plan to spend around $17bn.
Ukraine will also spend a large amount on their railway system after seeing Germany's Deutsche Bahn receiving 15 million passenger journeys during the World Cup.
There's also plans to improve the air travel infrastructure with the airports of Donetsk, Kiev, Odessa, Lviv and Dniperpetrovsk recieving funding.
When it comes to Stadia Donetsk should have their 50,000 stadium completed this year whilst Kiev's Olympic Stadium should be renovated in time for the tournament. Dniperpetrovsk should also have a new stadium completed this year and Lviv is still yet to decide whether to renovate their 28,000 capacity stadium or build a new 32,000 seat one.
And the Polish government is making progress by passing the Euro 2012 law which sets out the legal framework for running the tournament including tax breaks on construction materials and tighter penalties for copyright infringements.
