Group D Preview
Now this is going to be a group many of us will be following in the Euro 2008 qualifiers as it not only contains the quality sides of Germany, Czech Republic and to a degree, Slovakia. But also because the Republic of Ireland and Wales will be plying their trade.
German efficiency should lead them to be Group D winners, but it won't be an easy for the new coach Joachim Loew as they battle against the Czech Republic to take the honours. But realistically they'll know that if they can get full points against Ireland and Wales they should be qualifying as there isn't much chance they will fail to come away from their matches against Cyprus and San Marino empty handed. The Czech Republic will feel the same. So it's pretty much a two-horse race.
And possibly in second we have ...
The Republic of Ireland. I always say "never bet against the Irish" so hopefully they'll play above themselves and sneak into second place.
Not quite making it will be ...
Wales - sorry lads. I really want to see Ryan Giggs in the finals stage of a tournament but I just don't think it'll happen.
On their way home will be ...
Cyprus and San Marino - and they're not all that bad places to go home too!
When it's all over ...
Germany
Czech Republic
Ireland
Wales
Cyprus
San Marino
